Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Salvyn - Recovery Assistant ("Salvyn", "the app") uses, why, and the choices you have. Salvyn is made by Maza Consulting LLC ("we", "us").
1. Summary
- Salvyn works on your files on your device. It does not upload your files or their contents anywhere.
- Salvyn has no account and no sign-in, and we do not run servers that receive your data.
- Salvyn shows ads through Google AdMob. Google may collect some device data to show and measure ads, as described in section 6.
2. Permissions and why they are used
- Photos, videos and audio (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES,READ_MEDIA_VIDEO,READ_MEDIA_AUDIOon Android 13 and newer;READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGEon Android 12 and older; or limited "selected photos and videos" access on Android 14 and newer). Used only to show the items in Android's Trash so you can restore them, and to find duplicate photos and large files on your device. Salvyn asks for this access only when you open a feature that needs it, and explains why first. - Documents. Salvyn does not request a storage permission for documents. It can only see the folder you choose yourself through Android's file picker, and APK files you select in that picker.
- Internet and network state (
INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE). Used only to load ads. Your files are never sent over the network. - Advertising ID (
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_IDand Android's ad services permissions). Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and used by Google for advertising, as described in section 6.
You can revoke Salvyn's access at any time in Android Settings > Apps > Salvyn > Permissions. Features that need the access will then ask again; everything else keeps working.
3. Your files stay on your device
All scanning, comparing (including computing file fingerprints, or "hashes", to find exact duplicates), restoring and deleting happen on your device. Salvyn does not upload your files, copy them to servers, sell them, or share them or their contents with anyone.
Salvyn keeps a small amount of data in its private storage on your device: the folder you chose for documents, the list of items in Salvyn's Recycle Bin, and private copies of documents you moved to the Recycle Bin. Those copies are removed after 30 days, when you delete them permanently, or when you uninstall the app. Salvyn's data is excluded from cloud backup.
4. Deleting and restoring
Salvyn only deletes or restores items you have selected. For photos, videos and audio, every restore, move to Trash or permanent delete goes through Android's own confirmation dialog. For documents and APK files you selected through Android's file picker, and for Salvyn's private Recycle Bin copies, Salvyn asks you to confirm before anything is removed.
5. What Salvyn does not do
- No account and no sign-in.
- No access to contacts, phone or call data, SMS, camera or microphone.
- No location permission.
- No notifications.
- No background scanning; Salvyn only works while you are using it.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Salvyn is free and shows ads through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve, personalize and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob may collect and process information such as device identifiers (including the Advertising ID), IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, app interaction data (such as ad views and taps), and diagnostics. This information is collected and processed by Google under its own policies. Learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We do not receive your files, and we do not combine ad data with your files.
7. Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Salvyn asks for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before personalized ads are shown. You can review or change your choice at any time with "Privacy options" in Salvyn's Settings.
8. Opting out of personalized ads
On most Android devices you can open Android Settings > Google > Ads (on some devices, Settings > Privacy > Ads) and choose "Delete advertising ID". Without an advertising ID, apps are not shown personalized ads based on it. The exact menu names can differ by phone maker and Android version.
9. Security
Data sent between the app and Google's ad services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Your files themselves are never transmitted.
10. Children
Salvyn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
